The short answer
Viking Appliance Services repairs Viking, Wolf and Thermador ranges in Los Angeles homes, including gas, dual-fuel and induction models. We're an independent company based in Reseda, about 15 miles away, and we diagnose the fault before recommending any repair.
A range that won't light, heats unevenly, or shows an error code mid-dinner disrupts a busy Los Angeles household. Viking Appliance Services repairs professional-style ranges in homes across the city. Most of our range work is on Viking, Wolf and Thermador gas, dual-fuel and induction models. We're based in Reseda, about 15 miles northwest of central Los Angeles, and we're an independent repair company, not affiliated with any manufacturer. Our technicians find the actual fault, explain what failed and why, and go over your options before any repair starts. We also service Sub-Zero refrigeration, so one visit can cover more than one appliance in your kitchen.
Range problems we repair in Los Angeles homes
Premium ranges are built to last, but they have more parts than a basic stove. Depending on the model, that can include multiple burner sizes, sealed spark ignition, convection fans, infrared broilers and an electronic oven control board. These are the problems we see most often:
Continuous clicking often comes from moisture or spilled food around the burner base, or from a worn spark switch. Slow oven heating usually points to a weak igniter or a failing temperature sensor. We test before we replace, so you don't end up with new parts that weren't the problem.
- Burners that click but won't light, or keep relighting after they catch
- Weak, yellow or uneven flames on one or more burners
- Igniters that keep sparking after the knob is turned off
- An oven that won't reach temperature or runs hot or cold compared with the setting
- A convection fan that's noisy or not turning
- A broiler that won't ignite or shuts off early
- Error codes or an unresponsive control panel
- Induction elements that don't detect cookware or keep cycling off
- An oven door that won't seal, or a self-clean lock that stays engaged

What happens during a range repair visit
We start by asking what you've noticed. Tell us when the problem started, whether it happens every time or only now and then, and whether any codes appear on the display. On site, the technician checks gas supply and pressure on gas and dual-fuel models. They also test igniters, valves, sensors and elements with a meter, and inspect the wiring and control board.
Once we know the cause, we explain it in plain terms and lay out the repair. Common parts such as igniters, spark modules and sensors can often be replaced the same visit when we have them on hand. Model-specific control boards and valves sometimes need to be ordered. When that's the case, we tell you up front.
Before we leave, we run the range through its normal functions so you can see it working. That means every burner, plus bake, broil and convection.
Gas, dual-fuel and induction ranges each need a different approach
A Viking or Wolf gas range relies on sealed burners, spark igniters and gas valves. Small changes in flame color or ignition timing tell a trained technician a lot. Dual-fuel ranges pair gas burners with an electric oven, so the problem can be on either side, and the oven's electronics have to be diagnosed separately from the cooktop. Thermador ranges have their own designs, such as star-shaped burners and simmer settings that cycle the flame on and off, and these behave differently from standard burners when something goes wrong.
Induction and electric models are mostly about electronics: power boards, cooling fans and sensors. Because these systems differ so much, we confirm your exact model before the visit when we can. That way the technician arrives prepared.

When to stop using your range
Some range problems are safe to live with for a day or two, and others aren't. Turn the range off and call for service if you notice any of the following:
For other problems, it helps to have the model and serial number ready when you call. The label is usually near the oven door frame, behind the lower kick panel, or under the cooktop. Your owner's manual shows the exact location.
- A gas smell near the range. If it's strong, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
- Burners that light with a loud pop, or flames that lift off the burner
- Scorching, melted wiring or a burning-plastic smell
- An oven that keeps heating after it's turned off
