The short answer
Viking Appliance Services repairs Viking, Sub-Zero and Thermador refrigerators in Agoura Hills homes, working from our base in Reseda about 14 miles away. We diagnose cooling, ice, water and control problems on built-in and freestanding units and explain what we find before any repair.
When a built-in refrigerator stops holding temperature, the problem is rarely just warm milk. It is a full column of groceries, a freezer drawer starting to frost over, and an appliance that cannot simply be swapped out with a unit off the showroom floor. Viking Appliance Services repairs premium refrigeration for homes in Agoura Hills, about 14 miles west of our base in Reseda. We work on Viking built-in and freestanding refrigerators first and foremost, along with Sub-Zero and Thermador refrigeration. We also service Wolf cooking equipment, which often sits in the same kitchen. We are an independent repair company, not affiliated with or endorsed by any of these brands. Our goal is to find the actual fault, explain it in plain terms, and fix it so your kitchen works the way it was designed to.
Common Refrigerator Problems We See in Agoura Hills Kitchens
Most refrigerator calls start with one of a handful of symptoms. The cause behind each one varies by model and age, which is why we diagnose before recommending parts.
Built-in refrigerators are tightly integrated with cabinetry. Airflow, door alignment and the condition of the compressor area all matter more than they would on a standard freestanding unit.
- Fresh food section running warm while the freezer seems fine, or the reverse
- Frost or ice building up on the back panel, evaporator cover or freezer floor
- Ice maker producing small, hollow or no cubes, or water dispenser running slow
- Water pooling under crisper drawers or on the floor in front of the unit
- Compressor running constantly, clicking on and off, or making new noises
- Door gaskets no longer sealing, or doors that drift open or won't close fully
- Control panel errors, unresponsive displays or temperature readings that don't match reality

Why Summer Heat Matters for Refrigerators Here
Los Angeles has a Mediterranean climate with dry summers and mild winters, but inland communities and valleys run much hotter in summer than areas near the coast. Fall Santa Ana winds can also bring hot, dry spells. A refrigerator that keeps up fine in spring can start struggling when the kitchen warms up.
Heat puts extra load on the condenser and compressor. If the condenser coils are coated with dust or pet hair, or the ventilation grille is blocked, the system has to run longer to remove the same amount of heat. On built-in units, the top-mounted or bottom-mounted mechanical area needs clear airflow to work properly. Some warm-weather cooling complaints come down to cleaning and airflow. Others point to a failing fan motor, a refrigerant issue or a weakening compressor, and we check for all of these.
How a Service Visit Works
We start by asking what you have noticed and when it began. Details like a recent power outage, a new noise or water on the floor help narrow things down. Then we inspect the unit directly. That means checking temperatures in each compartment, looking at the evaporator and condenser, testing fans, sensors and controls, and inspecting door seals and hinges.
Once we know the cause, we explain it and walk you through your options before doing any work. If a part needs to be ordered, we tell you what it is and why it is needed. We also give you a few simple steps to protect your food in the meantime. If a repair doesn't make sense for the age or condition of the unit, we will say so plainly.
Tell us what your appliance is doing.
What You Can Check Before Calling
A few quick checks can save time, and occasionally they solve the problem outright. If none of these help, it's a good time to schedule a diagnosis.
- Confirm the unit hasn't been switched into a showroom, Sabbath or vacation mode
- Make sure the temperature settings weren't bumped during cleaning or loading
- Look at the ventilation grille and clear anything blocking it
- Close each door on a strip of paper; if it slides out easily, the gasket may not be sealing
- If the water dispenser is slow, note when the water filter was last replaced
